I got my son used to mashed foods and now I have been trying to get him used to foods that he has to chew. He is giving me a REALLY hard time. Now my question is..is this a serious problem?

  1. maybe you didnt encourage chewable foods early enough this is usually the case! if babies are introduced to certain things early enough and when they get older they refuse to try different things! i stopped mashing my sons food at 10 months and has had cut up food since and he also feeds himself! he is also 21 months!

just persist offer mashed and chewable foods and let him find it himself!

  2. Only your pediatrician can tell you acurately. He may need to a swallow study from a speech therapist. I would call the doc's nurse and speak with him or her about it.
