My daughter has already taken the 32 hour classroom portion and she has her learners permit. Can we (her parents) just teach her the 14 hour driving portion or will we have to redo the classroom part? We are in Texas.

  1. you have to have a license from the state to teach driver's ed officially, so unless you have the license any time spent in the car with your daughter is practice time...not official...i know many kids take the 2 courses separately so it shouldn't be a problem to find a course to cover the 14 hrs...

  2. You basically answered the first part yourself, yes, a licensed parent can teach the practical.  If you want credit for the course "AND" get a break on your car insurance, the classroom portion must be done in an accredited and certified training environment, which, unfortunately, rules out homeschooling for that part.
