I have a question about parental leave in ontario....?

i have a baby who is premature and in a hospital and i tried to apply for parental leave but my work will not give me a record of employment and claim i have to wait 17 weeks before i can take it. my girlfriend doesnt have a job so im entitled to all 35 weeks if i wanted. i just want to make sure my work isnt trying to s***w me over....thanks

  1. i would get a hold of service canada as i have never in my life heard that you have to wait 17 weeks for a record of employment under any circumstances.....your baby has been born you aerentitled to the parental leave, apply for it and your emplyoer HAS to give you the record of employment...the longer you wiat the harder it will make it on you!!  all the best and i hope that baby is doing great!!
