Can you put all the shredded paper you have in a paper bag, tape it up, and then put that in the recycle bin? Can you think of any other ways to recycle shrededded paper? I have about 5 big bags full of it. Someone said just throw it in the garbage because the bits and pieces of paper will make a mess in the recycle bin, but I want to recycle them.

Thanks in advance.

  1. You could just put it in a paper bag, then recycle that all. If you are interested in helping to save our world, please visit my website. :]

  2. I'd put the shredded paper into a paper bag and put it in the bin.  Otherwise just dump it into the bin, it probably doesn't matter.

  3. If your recycling people take office paper or newspaper, they will almost certainly take shredded paper.  If it's in bags, it should be fine.

  4. Find someone that has a worm bin or bins, shredded paper is used for the worm bedding which they eat.  The result is worm castings which is great for the garden and flower beds.  Cardboard even with the glue, is another great addition to worm beds.  I know that I spend lots of time shredding paper for my worms.  I don't see any reason why shredded paper wouldn't work well in a composter, since paper is organic and usually the glue is too.

  5. The shredded paper is perfect for your compost pile, or in your garden or flower bed as mulch.  You can drop it by my house if you're not gonna use it... lol

  6. I shred all my unwanted envelopes etc and use it as bedding for my horses.  So if you want to get rid of it I'd gladly take it.

  7. I contacted my local council and they said it could go in with paper if as you say it is in a paper bag - but I would just wrap it round so it can't fall out -  I wouldn't tape it as that in itself cannot be recycled with paper

  8. shredded paper is fine for recycling,it dissolves easier...shredded paper in bulk earns a premium price from recyclers...

  9. recycle it as it is (shredded). to recycle it they liquefy it so it wont matter that is shredded.

if you tape it, then you cannot recycle it because the tape is probably non-recyclable.

If you have issues because of wind blowing away pieces of paper then you can put a piece of cardboard on top

  10. if you know anyone with an open fire they can use your waste paper to make logs for the fire they can buy a presser that presses wet paper into logs then dry them out and they burn for hours great money saver .  Log machines about £20 but you can just compress them into your hands and make tennis ball sized shapes.

  11. no tape, plastic messes up the recycling. i use big envelopes for all the loose bite of paper.

actually if you have a compost heap, shredded paper is perfect to mix in with wet stuff.

  12. I recycle my shredded paper in the recycle box. I asked the people who collect it and they told me just to put it in a plastic bag, tie the handles and put it in the box or leave it on top of the box if it wont fit in. I find they always take away the extra bags of recycling I put out.

  13. Hi

If you know someone with rabbits or small creatures but not rats as they smell with paper see if they want it for bedding.  A few of my friends do this and if the pets do not eat meat then you can put the waste in your composter too.
