  1. forget it man...

Once you had 1640 you have no chance.Even if you get 2300 (which is not possible for you ) colleges may think that his is an accidental case.

Do you have a clue how many Asian students have SAT scores of 2100 ++ ?

  2. Relax.Get a guide book.Practise.

I got a 2240 on the SAT,and I'm afraid that Stanford wont accept me,hoping Cornell will and sure Harvard or Yale wont.So go figure what you need for those colleges.

  3. No matter what people tell you, the best BEST preparation for SAT's are to take practice ones.  At the prep school I want to, all I did was take practice tests (and I mean mocks, taking the full test, timed and all) and on my very first SAT, I got a 2070.  The test itself isn't really all that difficult, it's mostly time constraints that are the issue (these will improve with practice).  Also, for the essay, I would generally stray from personal experience and lean more toward literary/historical examples, as these make a more sound, concrete argument.  Other than that, there's really not much else you can do other than reviewing basic math (algebra, geo, a little bit of precalc) and READ the passages in comprehension.  Forget what people say about skimming it-READ them.  Good luck, I wish you well :)

  4. Wait, it really depends on what class you're in. The SAT changed so that from the class of 2010 on, you can now select the score you submit.

  5. No problem!

Ironically I recieved a similar score to yours on my PSATs, which is just a mini version of the SAT. I ended up wtih a score of a 2050, whihc is not a great score but better than what I had before. Much better, in fact.

Anyway, what I did was buy every single SAT book in the book store. I took i spent 500 dollars that day. It did not all go to waste though, because I solved every single question in the books. Well, okay fine, I didn't solve the Peterson's book or the REA books, just because they were so different from the actual test. So, all I'm saying is that you could practice for the SAT and perfect it. Although perfect is kind of extreme, perhaps you could improve your score drastically.

Reading: it's harder to improve your scores, simply because it's for people who have been reading since they were young. You know one of those kids who reads for fun. I for one, was not one of these; however, my sister is. She reads rather than watching TV. It's kind of retarded, nevertheless, not retarded when it comes to her have a 740 on her reading score whereas mine is only a 630. God d**n you, HBO.

Writing: Sorry I need to compare with my sister again, because we're twins so I guess it's just the way it is. Anyway, I recieved a 770 when she got a 650. I memorized each of the rules. I mean memorized! There were like billions of rules. I truly believe this section is all about practice. You could perfect it, without necessarily being "smart."

Math: I got a 760 and my sister got 800, but whatever. haha I'm still sort of happy with my score, except the two careless mistakes. Anyway, I just solved a lot of questions for this. In my junior year I took AP Calculus AB (my sister took BC, GOSH!) and I studied hard during the class and I guess that's what really helped me with my score. Nevertheless, I still didn't get a perfect score. All I could say is, if you have basic math skills for this section you should kill it! Just don't be careless like me!

  6. You will probably have to take the SATs multiple times. The high stress probably hurt your score, so you need to chill! The classes offered actually help you a lot because the people that score high on the SATs arent necessarily the smartest or best students, they just know how to handle the SAT. Learn strategies and practice. Review old math concepts from geometry and algrebra. The reading and writing comprehension sections can be tricky and open ended so thats where its very important to breathe and relax because if you freak out you will make mistakes. Hope that helps?

  7. Have you done any volunteer work? During the summer and your senior year, volunteer someplace which interests you. If it connects with your major, that's even better. Helping coach disadvantaged kids, volunteering at a hospital, etc. would be great. Colleges look at that! Also, you can take the SAT again in the fall.

  8. I have a friend who got a 2380 on the SAT with a 4.4 final high school GPA.... But he had no extra curricular activities on his belt which led him to being rejected to Harvard and MIT. The best thing you could do is play lots of sports and do an excessive amount of community service. You do need to improve your scores though, get at least a 1900+, use the practice tests they have out there.

  9. lol. depends how good you are at soccer, like if you have won a state championship or placed in CIF. o-o
