I have a question about the book The Alchemist.?

It's a homework assignment that i have to do. I was reading the book and i was at the beginning. i took it to the park with me and when i came back home i had lost it. I couldn't find it so i went to the library but they said that it wont be in till a week from now. If you have read it can you help me. Can you tell me at least 3 main characters form the book. and what each person wanted. I'll do the rest on my own please.

-Well there is santiago- he had the dream about the pyramids in egypt and he wanted to figure out what it all meant...he also wanted to discover his personal legend

-the gypsy- wanted 1/10 of santiagos treasure in return for interpriting his dream

-the englishman-he wanted to learn from the alchemist

Sorry, sorry. All I remember is that there's an alchemist and that it was quite funny...

I read it for the first time at 3am the night before I had an exam on it at 9am as part of my literature degree. I got a good mark but I can't remember a thing.
