Question:

I have a question about the grunfeld defense in chess..?

Okay, so the grunfeld defense begins with:

1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 d5

I know that the exchange variation is the main line, but sometimes people play;

4. Bf4 Bg7 5. e3 O-O

There is a gambit that white can accept and most club players will:

6. cxd5 Nxd5 7. Nxd5 Qxd5 8. Bxc7

What does black get out of giving away they pawn?

Thanks!

  1. Black plays Na6. Plan to gain the pawn with Qxg2,

    and undouble the a6-pawn by advancing it.
