  1. New feature development on XP has ended. It is now in maintenance mode, so bugs are still fixed and you have access to free updates through windows update.

Just like I can still se my DOS files on my first computer and W98 files on an older computer, you will always be able to see your files, run Word, use the browser, and so forth. That will never stop.

Just some of the hottest new programs will not be ported to XP.

  2. Lifecycle is:

    Make XP

    fix XP

    fix XP

    fix XP

    Make Vista

    fix XP

    stop selling XP

    fix XP

    fix Vista

    stop fixing XP

    fix Vista

    fix Vista

    etc etc etc

It won't just magically stop working one day and you won't lose your files... it will be just like if you were still running Windows 95 or Windows 98... You can't buy them anymore and these days they are so old nobody supports them.

  3. Sean is funny...and right on most counts.

That 'lifecycle' means Microsoft will one day stop furnishing patches and fixes for XP and users will have to get along as best they can.  This in the hopes of getting the world to buy new junk (aka Vista), and printers, and monitors, and DVD players, etc. compatible with Vista... it's a racket.

  4. what are you talking about?? Your files will not be lost if microsoft stops supporting XP, which won't happen for a while at least another 5-6 years according to the site.

  5. you need to be more specific about your question

you can email me at papi.newyork.07@gmail.com

  6. Of course not, that would be ridiculous. It just means that Microsoft will stop releasing updates for Windows XP in 2014. Windows 7 will be out by then. You will probably have a new computer by then or have upgraded it so it will run Vista or Windows 7. Even if you don't, just keep your computer secure with antivirus, antispyware, and firewall. It's just like Microsoft stopping the support of Windows 98 2 years ago. It still works, you just won't get any updates.
