  1. DVD players work only with the region codes they are intended to work with. Hacking the DVD player voids the warranty and a lot of such hacks don't work either or work improperly.

Ideal is to buy a DVD player with your region code or a multi-region player which plays all regions. Another word of caution- when buying a multi region player, check the quality of playback with some of your own discs (of your region code).

NTSC is a format which has to be available on your TV and discs for all to play normally. This is not a very big problem now a days since a lot of TV and DVD players support both NTSC and PAL.

  2. No, but there are sites which give codes you can enter through your remote to make your dvd player region code free.

  3. Just adding to above answer, unlocking the regions voids your warranty.
