I have a Sony HD projector and a PS3 the Sony Projector has an HDMI input which I want to connect the PS3 through to get the best video quality so I want to use an HDMI cable but there is a problem the projector doesn't have a speaker built-in so I plan to use a minisound system that has a 3.5mm input to connect your audio. The thing is that if I use the HDMI cable and I would use the optical audio output that the PS3 has so what could I do to connect the optical audio to the minisound system if it has a 3.5mm input. Is there any adapter or converter or cable (anything) to get optical audio to 3.5mm or what other soultions do you give me

  1. you could connect the included composite cable that came with your PS3 and use the white/red connections to the mini system directly or via the composite-to-mini jack adaptor.. usually $6 at radio shack.

youll just lose the surround sound. there might be a converter for the optical to mini jack.. but youll get the same effects if you just use the composite cables. and cheaper too..

  2. the cheapest place i found it was www.dealextreme.com. only a couple bucks if your not in a hurry for it.

  3. Your best bet is to follow the advice from the first responder. There is no 3.5mm to optical adapter as 3.5mm is analog audio and the optical output of the PS3 is digital. Some high end receivers have digital optical inputs that will accept the digital signal from the PS3 but it sounds like that's not the case for your "minisound" system.
