I have a question for knitting?

I'm sort of new at knitting, and I'm doing this project. This is the beginning of the project, and it says, "with a prov CO and MC, CO 32 sts." What does that mean? What's a "prov CO", and how do you do it?

  1. my first guess is that CO 32 is 'cast on thirty two stitches'... and that the MC might be 'main color'?

  2. A prov co is a provisional caston.  To do it you use some scrap yarn and some of the main color to cast on 32 stitches.  This is to leave space in the first row for adding on at a later time.  You will remove this provisional caston at a later time.

  3. "Prov CO" is a provisional cast on. Check on this site for a video on how (and why to do it).

scroll down the page to find the provisional cast on.

    (MC = main color.)

  4. translation = with a provisional cast on method and using main colour - cast on 32 sts.

search for tutorials on how to do a provisional cast on.
