Okay it about getting a teaching job, after you do your student teaching I know you have a chance to get hired on at that school, but how does it work, does the teacher recommend you, does the princpal set up a meeting with you or do you set up one with him, how does it work?

  1. If you want a teaching job in the school where you're student teaching, ask the principal to observe you while you're still student teaching.  It may be nerve wracking, but it will show innitiative and give you a chance to prove yourself.  Also, some principals will give you an interview if you ask him/her for one.  If they're not hiring, he/she may do a mock interview with you, if you ask, to give you experience and tips.  It might be nerve wracking, but you want all the experience you can get.

    Good luck!

  2. Usually you will need to hear first if the school is hiring a position in your field. Then you will generally need to apply for an instructional position with the county. Actually, do that first, do it now or as soon as you get that diploma. Go to the school district, and apply for an instructional position. Then you can get an interview at any school in the county who has a position open in that school.

Within your school now, be sure you let them know you are looking for a job immediately after you graduate so they are aware. If you've done a good job, your supervising teacher will most likely give you a good recommendation. Make a portfolio of all of your accomplishments as a college student in education and in your student teaching, show lessons you made and presented, things like that, have an awesome 'presentation' for when you do get that interview.

Good luck! It brings back memories for me....  :)

  3. once you finish your undergrad degree, you enter a teacher credentialing program with your university. they usually assign you to your master teacher & set everything up!

  4. That's a false statement. You have a chance at getting hired if there is a position available.

I teach music and let me tell ya, music teachers stay until they die and positions are very difficult to come by

  5. ok as a person on a hiring board for a school land havign dealt with student teachers i think i can answer this one.

if uve done a great student teaching yr dept head might approach u and suggest that u apply for the job,  if they dont then it is up to u to apply for the job without the suggestion.

u still have to go through exactly the same pathways as all other applicants eitherway.

they then contact u , maybe ask u to teach a mock lesson.

and u have a behavioural interview- with all the question scenarios.
