About how many calories would you have to burn to lose a pound?

like if you didn't eat anything that whole day and just worked out how many calories would you have to burn?

  2. Just try to eat maybe 2000 calories a day, and stay away from fatty foods. It depends how much you weigh and how much you want to lose. I do not recommend not eating the whole day and just worked out, that is horrible! You are going to pass out.

  4. As already stated by those above, a pound is equivalent to roughly 3000 or so calories. But not eating is not the key to weight loss. You just need to eat smaller portions of healthier foods. Not eating would actually be bad for you. People I know who have taken nutritional classes were taught that you should lose 1-2 lbs a week on a healthy diet.

A pound is about 3000 calories.  Remember the best way to lose weight, regardless of your age, is to reduce the amount of food you eat and increase your exercise level.  The key is that you eat GOOD food and enough of it to keep you healthy.  Exercise should not leave you gasping for air ... best rrule to remember is that you should be able to talk at the same time ...  I'll include a great link from the Mayo Clinic (a really well known health center in the US) that has some good information.  Check it out.  Good luck,.
