I just highlighteded my hair. I have medium brown hair and i was bleaching so i could get bleach blonde highlights. Well they look kinda golden yellow, what can i use to get rid of the cheesy color that developed.

Also what is toner and does toner come in the hair dye boxes at the store?

  1. toner is separate. It doesn't exactly what it says. "tone down" a color. If you've ended up with a harsh yellow, sounds like you do need to apply toner.

  2. hmm... I would also like to know the answer to this question!!

  3. dont worry it happens all the time to ppl with dark hair. Your highlights came out kinda brassy, which is the yellow coppery kinda tone. And a toner is DEFINATELY what you need. it will make tone your highlights to an actual blonde color, because the reason your highlights came out brassy is because they are directly in the middle of brown and blonde, and they are discolored and unatural. Toners cannot be bought in a grocery store, go to a beauty salon for that, or any salon. I work at fantastic sams at the front desk and they can tone color quick and easy. they use the Chi brand color and its excellent. Also u can try using either Clairol Shimmer Lights Shampoo or Martix So Silver Shampoo. These shampoos are a purple base toning shampoo that take out brassiness in people with blonde and gray hair. You just shampoo them normally and u can see results after one use, and after several uses u can see very dramatic results. And its safe on your brown hair too. It wont change anything to your brown. Hope this helps hun :)
