If you have a present employer and have only been with them for 3 months and are trying to create a resume, is it better to add that current employer or not?

  1. Yes, definitely include your current employer.  Plus, if you fill out an application you usually have to account for every period of work and unemployment you've had, beginning with the most recent.  That includes your present job.

  2. If it is in the same field you are trying to get another job in, you should include it.  Any experience in the field you want is a benefit.  I had a job that was completely out of my field that I only had for 2 months.  I leave it off of all applications for any other employment.  If the job you are submitting your resume for wants to make sure you are gainfully employed, then you need to put it on the current resume.

You can always do an experience-based resume which leaves off job dates entirely.
