  1. call your shelter. They proabably will have a nice persian or mix. shelter cats run at $60. Make sure it gets shots and vet care. Make sure to brush it every day.

  2. If you want a cheap cat, go to the humane society and adopt a cat. Just remember nothing is cheap, I live in the South and work at a vets office and cat visits just for shots runs about $100, and we are the cheapest around.

Cat's eat the same thing ,just make sure you give a quality food. Persians have health issues also, the pug noses cause drainage, they can get allergies, eye problems, and skin issues. They are more prone to it if you do go for a "cheap" purebred thats most likely been inbred.

if you mean what time will they go into heat or start spraying by "mature" then around 6 months they get fixed. That again, is expensive.

The only way to help with hair falling is brushing every day. Which you have to do anyways since Persians hair mats easily. If they won't let you do it then you would have to take it to the groomer and have them do it - again, money-

i just try to emphasize to people who say they want things "cheap" - no animals are cheap. We had to euthanize 8 puppies at my clinic last week because "cheap" ppl didn't get their animals their shots and the puppies were dying of parvo.

Don't go into an animal wanting 'cheap'

  3. If all you can afford is a "cheap" cat then a Persian is NOT the cat for you.

Persians are very high maintenance cats with coats that need to be fully combed - NOT brushed - at least every other day.  Brushes can rip out and break the top coat hairs and do little to remove the loose hairs of the undercoat.  A comb gently removes the loose hairs of the undercoat and leaves the top coat intact.

They also need special products to keep their eye area clean as their eyes can get goopy and the fur around it tear stained.

You also can't ignore sniffles in a Persian - that can easily turn into a really bad, long-lasting respiratory infection so they need to see a vet as soon as you notice symptoms.

Not that ANY cat should eat cheap dry grocery store food but especially so the Persian.  Crappy food will reflect itself in their coat which will become dull and shed more.  Persians also tend to be not as active as other breeds so the less carbs in their food, the better.

A Persian doesn't sound like the right cat for you.  Wait till you're older and out on your own and are making enough money to afford to give it the very best care.  Then go find one at a shelter - because Persians sadly are one of the commonly dumped at shelter breeds.
