My girlfriend is italian and she recently came to visit me in the USA. According to her, everytime she comes to the USA customs officials staple a green piece of paper to her passport probably indicating how long she is permitted to stay in the country. And, when she leaves to go back to Italy they always take the piece of paper off her passport.
This last time, they did not take it off her passport. So, it's still there as of today. She is worried that next time she tries to come to america they wont let her in or there will be problems because of this. She went to the embassy in Milan but, like most embassy officials, they were no help, simply telling her to go on the website and read what to do. These stupid embassy officials NEVER help out. I have had problems with them in the USA, London and Italy.
So does anyone know what this paper means, and what the implications are if she doesn't get it removed, and most importantly HOW exactly she is supposed to get it removed?
