I travel all over the United states with my little subcompact. I respect truck drivers when I travel. Here's what I do.

1. When I'm merging onto a Highway and a trucker goes to the left lane so I can merge, once I go onto the highway, I slow down so he can go back on the right lane.

2. When a trucker wants to pass a slower truck, I slow down and let him pass.

3. When I'm driving on a highway and the trucker goes to the left lane so he can let a merging car pass, I let him through.

4. When a trucker desperately needs to get onto an exit, I slow down so he can merge to another lane.

5. On mountainous and hilly highways (Like the PA Turnpike); on downhills , i let truckers pass me so they don't have to shift.

ANy others I should be concerned so I can make truckers' jobs easier on the road?

  1. Just make sure to signal lane changes, and basically follow the rules of the road. It sounds to me like you are a very curtious driver and as a trucker if all drivers did those things my life would be too easy.. so thanks a lot.

  2. When they pass you and are clear of your car, flash your lights to signal it's okay to move over.

Tell your friends to be as thoughtful as you are!

Too many times people cut in front of trucks and expect them to be able to stop, it's not that easy when you are hauling 20 tons.

Thank you for your thoughtful driving, truckers every where appreciate drivers like you!
