  1. idk why she talks

    she has no power

  2. She just wants to let people know about her and where she stands on issues, but the VP job really doesn't have any major irresponsibilities.

  3. Well McCain is fairly old and has had Cancer.

  4. A VP can be one of two things:

    1. a working VP to help and work alongside the President (think Bush/Cheney and then think Obama/Biden)

    2. a figure-head only (think Clinton/Gore and then think McCain/Palin)

A VP casts the tie-breaker in congress, stands next in line to be President in case of an emergency, and is an agent for the President such as attending funerals, etc.

  5. The vice president is the president of the senate and casts the ultimate vote in case of a tie.  Other than that, he (or she) just has to be ready to step in the shoes to be president during a crisis or the president's death.

  6. VP Usually sits in front of Congress, and dabs in foriegn affairs. I think Palin will make more of her VP time. I don' see her as a sit behind the desk and do nothing politician. I think she will be highly active she will try to make her case as President in 4  years. I think that is a win, win for us.

  7. The informal roles and functions of the Vice President depend on the specific relationship between the President and the Vice President, but often include drafter and spokesperson for the administration's policy, as an adviser to the president, as Chairman of the Board of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), as a Member of the board of the Smithsonian Institution, and as a symbol of American concern or support. Their influence in this role depends almost entirely on the characteristics of the particular administration. Cheney, for instance, is widely regarded as one of George W. Bush's closest confidants. Al Gore was an important advisor to President Bill Clinton on matters of foreign policy and the environment. Often, Vice Presidents will take harder-line stands on issues to ensure the support of the party's base while deflecting partisan criticism away from the President. Under the American system the President is both head of state and head of government, and the ceremonial duties of the former position are often delegated to the Vice President. They may meet with other heads of state or attend state funerals in other countries, at times when the administration wishes to demonstrate concern or support but cannot send the President himself.

  8. Really, the vice president doesn't do anything, has no power that makes any difference to anyone. The vp just visits other countries while the president stays home. Pretty much the vp is to do jobs the pres doesn't have time to do such as visit foreign countries and such.

The tie breaker rule, when are you going to see democrats and republicans deadlock voting on an issue, rarely, maybe once a year at best. The last time the vp broke the tie, was on march 13,2008 ( the one before that was in 2003) he voted yes.

The vp doesnt nothing but sit back and watch, applaud the president, and give advice to the president, usually the vp is older than the vp or has some experience in an area, or experience in politics that can help the pres when he or she needs the advice.

Other than that, its just a sitting job, with the only benefit is to gain experience to run the next time.

  9. The VP is first in line for the Presidency should anything happen to the President. The VP is also the President of the Senate they cast the deciding vote if there is a stalemate.

The VP also presides over and certifies the Electoral College.

  10. They preside over the senate and cast votes in the even of a tie is probably the most powerful role they play.

  11. Read the U S Constitution, Article II.

  12. No power other than tie-breaker in the enate & replacing the prez if he becomes incapacitated. But the past few presidents have given their VPs much more to do. I think McCain will use Palin a lot.

  13. If there is a tied vote in Congress the cast the deciding ballot. that's the all the power they have.

As for any chance of McCain dieing, his doctors give that a zero possibility.

More likley to die from a looney left activist

  14. Vice President d**k Cheney shot a lawyer.  So, the VP has the ability to do good things.

  15. Depends on the dynamic between the president and the vice-president.

Officially they check to make sure the president is still alive and then go keep an eye on the shenanigans going on in the senate.

I suspect Dan Quayle probably did very little.  LBJ probably met with the plotters of jFK's demise.  Wouldn't surprise me if Bush Sr did the same for his boss.  Gore, who the heck knows what Gore did.  Mondale dreamed of the day he could be a bigger idiot than his boss.   Cheney actually runs the day to day operations of the government, that is when he isn't out hunting.
