Question:

I have a rash... How do I get rid of it?

I have gotten a large tattoo on my side (so far 8 hours worth of work and counting). After the first session, I was told to use bag balm for the first couple of days and then switch to vitamin a & d ointment. As soon as I switched to the ointment, I broke out with a rash all around and on the tat. I called my artist and he told me just to go back to the bag balm, which I did. It went away in time for my second sitting, but now it has came back. I have my third session (another 4 hours) coming up in less then a week. How do I get rid of this, and is it the ink that could be causing it, or just a bad reaction to the c**p I'm putting on it? I do not have super sensitive skin or anything...

  1. It's definitely the stuff you're putting on it now. I suggest switching to an alternative ointment, which isn't hard to find/do. Make sure it isn't something silly causing it like friction as well, ha.

  2. i had that happen too Try using aquaphor Ive been using it the last few days and my rash is almost gone

  3. you could be allergic to the dye or the vitamins your best bet is to go to the Dr. and get an allergy test before you do any more tattooing being allergic to the dye can cause you to get deformations so you better check into a Dr. quick i hope your not allergic to the dye that would suck

  4. it could be either. but if you've had the same ink before from the same place it shouldn't suddenly cause a reaction- more likely its what your putting on it. switch to something like e45 cream, or even nappy rash cream is great- not only preserve your ink perfectly but help with the rash.

speak to your artist about it again, and if they cant really explain it see a doctor as they may be able to tell what is causing it better

  5. l**k it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and add some mayo
