  1. I don't like rats, they bite. take away the babies, I know that they can die so quickly.

  2. FIRST OF ALL DONT LISTEN TO IZZY IF SHE HATES RATS GOOD 4 HER . but i love rats all i can say is wait it out and see what happens

  3. remove from the males they will kill the babes and wait it out

  4. Take her to a vet, they can tell you everything. It wont be as much money as a cat or dog. Most vets will take rats.

  5. Awww I have rats too and there lovely

HATERS DON'T WRITE IF YOU SAY YOU HATE THEM

anyway there really is no way for sure to tell

    but im sure she is

just don't mess with her too much

    keep blankets in the cage

don't squeez her by her belly when you pick her up

    and just wait

    good luck :]

  6. There is no way to tell if a female rat is pregnant until right before she has the babies. The nipples will be the first sign. They will be more pronounced. About 3 to 4 days before she gives birth she will look like she ate a tennis ball. When you pull her up where she is standing up on her hind legs she will be pear shaped and be extremely big around the middle. I have had many many litters of baby rats and this is really the only way to tell.

  7. The only way to really tell is when her gestation period is almost up, in the last week they really pack on the weight.  The usual gestation period for a rat is from 21 to 23 days and they come into heat about every five days.  So if you can work out when you first had her in with the males you might be able to figure when she's due, give or take a week.  Pregnant female rats will also clean around their nipples a fair bit and more and remove hair to make it easier for the cubs to nurse when they are born.  Contrary to what people believe male rats only sometimes eat baby rats, if the male has been a constant companion of the mother for at least three weeks before the birth then he will 99% of the time care for the babies and help mum out keeping them warm while she goes and rests. This is not reccomended because the female will go into heat about 12 to 24 hours after birth and mate with the male, which puts her under lots of pressure, being pregnant with one lot and nursing another! But you said she wasn't with the males anymore.  Just make sure your rat has plenty of bedding, because she will get really busy making a nest, (although sometimes female rats wait till after the birth to build the nest), fresh nutritious food and water.  Try to handle her as little as possible, especially if she starts to show and beware of the new mother!  Not all the time but sometimes even the most gentle sweet placid rat can turn into a protective monster upon the birth of her babies.  Just don't disturb them too much. Hope i've helped and Good Luck!
