  1. put in your browser:

how to prepare for an exam

and you get all the tips and tricks that have worked for at least somebody. But the most important is to make a realistic Study Plan, a schedule of study activities  with a lot of repetition,  from now until September. Prepare all the questions you can think of and ask a classmate to answer them and have that classmate do the same for you. [Or even better involve more classmates]

Then the last and most difficult step is.

    JUST DO IT

Keep your butt on the chair in front of your study material and do not leave that place physically NOR mentally before you have finished what you have planned to learn/repeat, etc. This is called study discipline. And when you have that developed you never will have to ask this question again.

  2. Well its a good thing you're not cramming. So that's thing #1, take a deep breath and realize you have time.

Don't even THINK about procrastinating, set a time each day to do studying and absolutely make yourself sit down and open the books at that time.

Get rid of distractions, close the doors to tune the fam. out, if you have a comp. in your room, turn it off unless you need it to study, turn off your cell phone.

Music can help or hurt. If you listen to very fast and very loud music when you study you will get very tired, I know this from experience and from my biologist mother - your brain will be processing so many impulses that it will become exhausted, so avoid fast/loud stuff. Some people say classical music on a low volume helps. Unless you're addicted to listening to music like me, don't listen to it at all to make sure you're soaking up the info and not singing along or whatever.

High light stuff! If you're a visual learner, it might be a big help during memorization.

Keep hydrated, keep snacks handy to boost your energy when you've been studying a while.

Set goals. If you have a chapter to read, take a little sticky tab or post it and mark the end of that chapter. You will know at all times just how much more you have to read to finish and it will make you feel great when you reach the end of the chapter and are able to take the post it off the page and put it at the end of the next chapter. Seems silly, but trust me, setting tiny goals and getting there can really motivate you to keep going.

Try to actually care/be interested in the material, you have an opportunity to intensively learn something, so try to see the logic/reason in WHY you're reading/doing this stuff.

  3. I usually remember things in a more creative way :) Using things like making up a song, action, abbreviated word and even associating things with what you find funny always helps.

Making flow charts and memory cards may sound babyish but hey, for some people it works! :D

Sometimes getting people to test you after you have learnt a section of text helps too, that way you can always go back and memorize parts you're unsure of.

Good luck in your exam, you'll do great! Just don't stress :)
