I was born with 2 thumbs on one hand but one has been amputated. Now it is really really sore. What can I do, if anything?

  1. Do you mean it was surgically removed in the past few days or months?

If it was, were you not given pain medications by the surgeon, or told when you need to call?

If you were not given pain medication, you could take a Tylenol but NOT aspirin.

Do call your doctor though if where it was removed is sore. Also, if you see any red streaks coming from the area, go to an ER right away.

  2. Are you having us on?

On the chance you are not - what you are feeling is probably phantom pain or whatever they call it - people with amptated limbs apparently feel it - if it is really a genuine problem - talk to your doctor

A site for you about phantom pain
