I have a red maple tree and all the leaves are turning brown at the tips what could be wrong?

I water it about once a week and I don't know why it is turning brown, what could it be?

  2. The browning of leaves can be because of many reasons.

    Have you checked your tree and the stem/trunk for insects or for wounds, for the sap oozing out or any discolourations or spots?

    I think a photograph will be better to find the cause.

    Some times a borer insect may attack and then climb up the tree killing the plant in a brachwise manner.

    First check that the soil is still well drained and not become very hard or water logged. Is your plant getting sufficient sunlight(6-7hours).

    Do not apply very heavy doses nitrogen fertilisers.

    The browning of leaves starting at the tip may be beacause of a pest(worms) or the verticillum wilt.

    Accordingly treat the plant. Please send few snaps if possible.
