  1. I'm not really sure but I would assume when keeping them as pets you really don't need to do anything differently.

  2. I totally agree with Lee

    Here is a wonderful book

Complete Boa Constrictor: A Comprehensive Guide to the Care, Breeding, and Geographic Races

    by Vincent Russo

  3. It is actually spelled COLOMBIAN, as in the country of Colombia.  There is really no difference.  The label Colombia, is just a common geographic region where Boa;s are found.  The new Boa you purchased is most likely the same species.  The common Boa is Scientific name, Boa constrictor imperator.  The other species that are sold that are called "True Red-Tails" are Boa constrictor constrictor.  As the scientific names suggest, they are the same just a different Sub-species, but essentially the same snakes with same general characteristics.  The True red-tails are from different geography such as Suriname, Guyanna, or Peru.  Boa's are lighter colored the further south they are found.  You can get common boas for 50-100$ as babies.  True redtails jump to 350-800 depending on quality and patterns.  Unless you paid a considerable amount higher and the snake looks much different from what you have, I would be willing to bet you just purchased another common boa.  Either way they are beautiful and fun snakes to keep.  You most likely just got caught up in the Common name game.  Good luck,  Enjoy the Boa's.

you dont need to give them a different habitat.
