I drink throughout the day anyway, but how should I make sure I have drunk the right amount in time for the bleep test?

I have been told to down a pint of tap water one hour before the start- is this a good idea? I want to be hydrated but don't want to be in the bathroom every ten minutes either!

Thanks!

  1. the body cannot rehydrate faster than 1/2 pint every hour any more and it will go straight through you, so i would have 1/2 pint in each of the 2 hours leading up, you shouldn't need anymore because you wont be dehydrated.

  2. how long is the test? usually, tests like this aren't necessarily life-or-death distances. as long as you drink throughout the day, you should be fine.

  3. I believe you already got your best answer - drink 1 pint of water one hour before the start and stay in cool/shaded area when possible and you should be fine.

If possible, pour some water on your head right before the test and you are golden.

  4. maybe you can try some tea.Have enough warm-up exercise before you running.

  5. The best thing for it would be to probably drink 3/4 of a bottle of water within the hour before your test as you want to avoid getting stitch. ( this can also give you time to go to the toilet ) Also drink a small amount before you are about to start make sure you drink afterwards too!
