I have a samsung dvd camera recorder sc-dc173u. i have a pc with windows vista basic how do i transfer video?

i can transfer video thru the usb port, but only for video filmed on the memory card. shouldn't i be able to just put in my camcorder mini dvd into the pc and burn it like any other disk?why is it so complicated? the video transferred via usb port is done in roxio's video program. i got it all done up and now i can't burn the project. lots of issues-any suggestions?

You have to finalize the dvd in your camera, then you will be able to play your dvd in your TV's DVD player. To get it from your DVD burner to your PC is another problem. Get some good editing software, I have been told that Ulead studio and pincacle studio 11 will work for downloading mini dvd's. I use pinacle studio 11 ultimate for my mini dv camcorder and I really like it. I am able to take files from my dv (cassette) camcorder and add video from my digital camera and then add a slide show.
