  1. I don´t want to sound condescending, so I´ll give it a complete run through. I´m assuming that the TV has either composite, VGA or DVI input. One of which is connected to the laptop video output, by either a straight cable, or an adapter cable (HD15 to HD15, or DVI to composite, etc..). If it is a VGA or composite input on the TV, then it is an analog input. If you are coming off the laptop with a VGA cable, it should be good. If you are coming off the laptop with a DVI output, it must be DVI-I, to carry an analog signal. If the input on the TV is DVI and the laptop output is DVI, it should also be OK.

Cabling done, ensure that the display input is set to the input you are using. Your owner´s manual will tell you what name the TV uses for each input. You will also probably have to set your laptop to do a display output to your auxilliary output port. On most laptop there is a small monitor picture on one of the Function keys, usually F3. If you press the key labeled ´function´ and the appropriate F key at the same time, it will cycle through the display outputs. Alternately, you can go to your desktop properties and setup the TV as a second display. Hope this gives you what you need.
