well to be truthful nobody knows it could of been a asteroid or they could of just evolved

Like all the dinosaurs; however, this question is pretty unanswered.  Maybe it was an asteroid hitting the Earth, maybe not.

They came extinct the same way all dinosaurs did. But that part it still to be discovered. Nobody was around when dinosaurs were so we have no proof of whether an meteoroid hit the earth or something completely different happened.
