  1. I would bet it is the bellows (rubber boot connecting from stern drive to boat) these usually get replaced every 5 years or so - feel them, if they are getting hard and brittle, replace them, also, if there is a whole, I bet you can find it.

  2. leaking water then patch it with marine epoxy

leaking oil then remove and repair.  It's worth it for peace of mind.

  3. I am betting what you are referring to is whats called a core plug. Some people call them freeze plugs. Its a popular misconception that they are there to keep the block from freezing and busting but they are actually casting plugs that let the sand out after the engine is formed. If thats what it is it depends on which one it is to determine if the engine needs pulled. If you can feel it with your fingers I am betting a good tech can put one in for you. If your doing it yourself go with the rubber expanding ones simpler and just as good to stop the hole.

  4. Could be the stern gland that has become disalighned, or a bent shaft, if it has an inboard engine.

  5. if it's water, could be the swivel pin or the boot has a hole. to repair either the boat will need to be hauled onto land. can be very expensive. you may consider a short block. marine labor charge in my area is $85 dollars an hour. my guess for haulig and launching is $400. if you can afford it and you feel its worth it, get a complete new engine.
