I took my younger brother and sister out to eat after their baseball game about a week and a half or so ago.

I decided to let them eat in my car on the way home and asked them to not leave their food behind.

My little brother, left an entire burger under the backseat of my car. My ENTIRE CAR is now filled with maggots, and they're tunneling underneath my carpets and the scent is unbearable.

I need something to get rid of the maggots and the scent, without bleaching my carpets. =/

My car is a brand new Mustang, and I really don't want to ruin it.

  1. EWWWW.... Sorry, but that's pretty gross... I would remove the floor mats and scrub with a brush and a bucket of soapy water(you can use dishsoap, not a lot!) rinse with the hose and let them air dry....

Get a wet/dry shopvac and vacuum everything else.... You may also want to use the brush method and use the shopvac to extract the water.... Just remember to remove the paper filter before you use it for WET application.    Once you've vacuumed, scrubbed and extracted the water... Let the car dry out.. Leave the windows open/doors and see if that helps..

Put a couple boxes of baking soda the filter box kind under the seats to absorb any lingering odors...

  2. You may be able to go to a car dealership and pay to have them detail it professionally.  It will cost you, see if insurance will cover it.  I had a horrendous smell in my minivan once.  After removing the seats and pulling up carpets (they are actually pretty easy to snap on and off) I found a rotting peanut in a crevice.  I just cleaned hard surfaces with water and clorox cleanup and the carpets with Resolve.  It was a job, but it worked.  Good Luck1 PS: IF you get rid of the meat the maggots will die, they are flesh eating.

  3. go to the car wash and vacuum out as much as you can

I would then buy carpet shampoo and scrub the area

leave your doors open and let it dry out, so it does not mildew
