I have a serious question for ATHEISTS/AGNOSTICS and the US Dollar bill?

Since the US dollar bill says "In God We Trust", can we legally cross out the word "God" with a Sharpie on our money (not that we have THAT much time on our hands) and then use the money?

  1. Yes, it's as sickening and pepper spraying a lady holding a flower up to riot cops as it is for Palin to say anyone accused of being in "Al Qaeda " has no legal rights, as it is for anyone in the US to pretend they have a right to insist on the irrational and threaten people with mysticism because our money says the government supports the Christian religion. I am sick, I am on strike from this system, I will not stand for it, I will die for what's right, which is life and reason, the only basis for morality.

  2. I might drink less caffeinated beverages, If I were you.

  3. No, and as long as the bill serves our purpose, there's no need to take the words "In God We Trust" that seriously.

  4. I am a Deist. Though, I still scratch out "God" and replace it with "Gisele Bundchen" so that it reads: "In Gisele Bundchen We Trust."

  5. It is illegal to deface US currency.

  6. Sure you can.

I personally don't really care as that is the least of my worries when I have money.

    In other words-If I can spend it,then I don't give a c**p what it says on it.

  7. I thought it was illegal to deface tender.

I was under the impression that all money is the property of the mint that issues them and that you are only legally entitled to the value of the money, since the small amount of materials that they are made of is certainly not worth their value.

Besides, doing so would be rather petty.  Why should you care that it says that on your money?

  8. It's illegal, but RARELY enforced.

Besides, how would anyone know you didn't just receive the money like that? Chances are no one could prove you wrote on it, anyway.

  9. There is an obscure law that states that it is illegal to deface US money in any way.  It's not really enforced, but it does exist (it's a shame too, because I'm about sick to death of 'where's george').

I have no real issue with that phrase being on cash.  Face it, the almighty dollar has much more power and influence than any deity ever could.

  10. We can test your theory. Give me two dollars, and see if I accept it.

  11. No, it's illegal to deface federal currency. What does this have to do with atheism?

  12. I've been doing it for years.
