The shed is about 8' tall and my mini is happy in it....do u think that a large horse (15 to 16H)would fit also? Its not a real barn but kinda like a run in from the rain, but it is meant for the horse.

  1. a standard size stall for a horse is 10 x 12 to 12x12 so no. it is WAY to small

  2. Too small!

  3. For run-ins the minimum is usually about 100 sq ft per horse (10x10).  The one you're looking at is only 84 sq ft.  For a horse and a mini, I'd want at least 150 sq ft (10x15).

Is 8' the interior height?  Because a lot of these I've seen they're measuring exterior height, and inside it's more like 6'.

8' inside may be tall enough for the horse physically, but if you're in a warm climate and the shed isn't in the shade, it will be stiflingly hot inside.  You need more height so the heat of summer has somewhere to go.

It's also important to have two entrances, so if one horse starts bullying the other, it can get away.

  4. you should build on another stall so your horse can have its own space, i think thats way too small for 2 horses (even tho ones half the size)

the stalls in my barn are 12' by 12' and i wouldn't put a mini into it with my horse (who is 16 hands) it would be very cramped

  5. It is fine for the mini but 7' is not enough room for a larger horse.  The minimum I would put a large horse in would be 10'.  The normal size horse stall is 12x12.  If you expect them both to use it you might have a problem.

  6. That is not a large enough space for both animals to share, and 8 feet tall is pretty low for your large horse to squeeze into.  Each full sized horse should have a 12 by 12 foot space, as a rule of thumb for run-ins, although many are kept in smaller spaces and do alright.
