I have a shower problem

I'm watching someones house for them and I'm trying to take a shower and It only has one k**b, so I turn it left and water just comes out the faucet and I turn it right and water just comes out the faucet, I have pulled and pushed and looked at the shower head and tried just about everything,Its a Delta shower, any suggestions?

it may be one of those that you have to keep turning until the water starts to come out the shower head. Also did you try to turn the shower head itself?

sometimes there is a k**b that you pull up from the faucet that turns the shower on

if the bathroom is really far away from the hot water heater, you are going to have to wait some time before it heats up. I would turn it to the left, wait 3 minutes and if the water temp still hasn't changed, turn it to the right and wait a few minutes.  There should be a little pull handle to turn the shower on and if not, that thing that would normally stop the drain (you know that little handle thing midway up the tub?) should turn the shower on.

There should be a diverter on the spout of the Tub. Assuming you are not using a dedicated shower but one in the bathtub.
