  1. the archives is posts. Yahoo groups saves all posts, if the group has been around for many years and is very active, there'll be alot of archives, some in the 20K or more. a newer less active group may only have 10 to 50.  on the left side of the group it has a tab Messages, or at the bottom of group that calendar Message History- once click on either- on the right you'll see

Newest  |  < Newer  |  Older >  |  Oldest  that's how you search those archives, or type in a key word and it'll pull up archives containing that word(s) also on the right you'l see

Simplify | Expand   (Group by Topic)  and you can view by topic

  2. Most Yahoo Groups automatically save all the old posts (messages) to the Group.  When they're saved like this, all of them collectively are called the archives.  To view them, go to your Group's home page on the web.  Then click on the Messages link on the left-hand side of the page (you might need to log in first to do this).  Then you'll see a list of the last 30 messages that have been posted to the Group.  To see the next-most-recent 30, click on Older towards the upper-right-hand corner of the list.  To see the first 30 messages that were posted to the Group, click Oldest (just to the left of Older).  You can also search these archives by entering a search term (a word or phrase) into the Search box just above the top-middle of the list, then clicking the Search button immediately to the right of the Search box.

At any point in the above process, you can view a specific message by clicking on its subject line in the list.
