ok i have a silver 1943 penny.

i heard that they are worth a lot but i also heard they are only worth a few cents...

so anyone who knows anything about this coin, can you tell me the value?

  1. Its actually steel.  They were conserving copper during WWII.  It is only worth a penny.

  5. It's made of steel, not silver. If you're paying your taxes with it, it's worth a cent. If you're selling it to a collector, it's worth a buck or two depending on its condition.

    Now if you had a COPPER 1943 cent, you could think about retiring, but there are maybe 12 in existence anywhere.

  10. I think they are worth $4. I wouldn't pay $5 because you can get 5 arby's melts for $5.
