I have a small 4 cylinder car and while driving along the road it starts misfiring ?what could be the cause?

  1. it could be any # of things. possibly plugs and/or wires, bad gas, timing off jus a tad, etc. take it for a tune-up


  2. It all depends on what car you have also. If it is an older car, carbureted etc.

    Please be much more specific with the problem aswell.

  3. if you dont use the car all the time, it could be old gas but most likely something its with the distributer or spark plugs wires

  4. could be anything.  probably plugs or leads.

    if you disconnect the leads one at a time you should find that one of them will make no difference and thats the cylinder with the problem.  if the cars done more than maybe 50000km and on the original leads you might aswell do plugs and leads anyway.

  5. Misfire (if you are sure about that) is always caused by problems in the ignitions system (spark plug, spark plug wires, distributors, rotors, coil, etc.).
