  1. get some barly straw it's reasonably cheap and child/pet friendly

  2. there is a product I have seen at pet stores (even at Walmart) where you drop the tablet in an aquarium and it keeps algae from growing (and other water plants)

  3. Ignore "products". buy a couple of swan mussels from an aquatics centre. They will sit on the bottom and eat up the algae for you

    about £4 each

They just loook liek shells, about 6 inches long. The shells open up and draw in water through thier filters, eating the algae. They expell clear water

  4. I use a product called Algaefix from a company called Pondcare.  There web site is www.pondcare.com.  It keeps the algae from forming.  I use it in a big fountain but it will work in a small one as well.  You can also use a little bleach but it doesn't last as long and can be harmfull to use.

  5. go to petco and ask them, im sure there is atleast 3 things to pick from.

    tablets, filters, plants, powder mix....
