the plant is now about 9 in. tall. Brances are spaced 3 to 4 in. apart. The needles are about 1/2 long. and they feel quite delicate. almost has a "fern" quality. The branches are woody in appearance. The plant is very sturdy. What might it be?

  1. The needle description sounds like a White Pine, but if they are kind of flat rather than round shaped you may have a Cedar or a Yew.  A young White Pine has a smooth gray or black bark while the cedars have a gray/brown scaly bark.

  2. norfolk island pine

  3. Sounds like a white pine.  Good grower

Keep the weeds away, give it food in the spring, mulch it and you will have a good looking tree in no time
