Question:

I have a small theory on the minds of teenage boys. Can I get some feedback?

I now have a theory on the male attitude towards male celebrities: Teenage boys resent teenage male celebrities because they are jealous of the way they attract attention from teenage girls. I think this is true with many celebrities and many of my male friends and me. For example – Zac Efron: Boys my age have developed a hatred towards Zac Efron and criticise everything about him just because girls always talk about him and drool over him. I, myself, automatically feel dislike towards him simply on the basis that Becky really likes him. This is true with other celebrities such as the Jonas Brothers, Jesse McCartney and more.

What do you think of this? Do you agree? Can you think of any more examples? And if you are a girl, do you see this in your male friends when you talk about male teenage celebrities?

Thanks a lot for any answers.

  1. You can use this against or for you. Turn it round, be like him.

  2. Thank you Captain Obvious...

Edit: Actually, wait. I'm not sure if I agree. I dislike many celebrities and it's not based upon jealousy. For example, I dislike Miley Cyrus. I'm not jealous of her, I just think that she's overrated and definitely not as gorgeous and talented as everyone makes her out to be.

I'm not sure about guys though. Sometimes a guy can just think "How the h**l can he be with THAT girl?" without being jealous. Same goes for girls. So no, I don't think it's always down to jealousy.

  3. Well I think guys in their early teen years become a bit jealous... and some of the older teens too... but my brother is 18 and he isnt jealous of the Jonas Brothers... he actually gives them props on the way they dress ... he likes the way they dress and their style...

so yea i agree but sometimes there r exceptions... *like my bro*

and my guy frnds always send me videos of ppl liking the jonas brothers and thn theyre like wtf?? lol its kinda entertaining actually :D

  4. i don't agree, i think the resentment created towards them does not evolve due to jealousy but dislike of character being the subject a center of attention.

Teenage males, ones I've interacted with when i was in the according age span have qualities that interact with anti-establishment, anti-corporate attributes, so when dealing with a male celebrity they see this as a politically correct individual who has done everything in his power to get to the peak of media attraction and massive popularity, completely the opposite of what a young man's "underground" non-corporate character is like..

they cannot view that person as an influence.

  5. All of the boy band music can be really annoying. And when you see girls drooling over some guy who sings all of these girly love songs it is just annoying.

  6. Agree - they also believe that the teenage male celebrities are all homosexuals in their defence.

  7. Hmm... I'm 13 and male and I don't hate male celebrities, there are some I don't like, like boybands because 1: I really don't like that kind of music and 2: I don't see why girls are so obsessed with them. I'm not jealous, I wouldn't want that kind of attention anyway. But I think being an obsessed fan is mad wether you're male or female.

Although, I'm not what you'd consider a typical boy. So for the medium, I think your theory has got something to it. But I think it's more complex than that.

  8. Why should you be jealous because your girlfriend is interested in some fantasy boy whom she'll never meet? You're the real deal. You're the one in her "real" life. Besides, in another year, she'll have a crush on some other teen heartthrob. Don't worry about it. You'll both be a whole lot happier if you just ignore it.
