  1. Tell us all the markings on the gun

  2. might be a model 10 m&p. lots of them were made and used in wwII, mostly pilots and military police. when you swing out the cylinder, look at where it attaches to the frame. some smith & wesson will have the model number located there.

  3. From 1899- to present. Without seeing the piece, if it has no model number on the crane, it was made before 1957.

  4. With the info provided, anywhere from 1908 to present.  The model number and serial number can be traced to when yours was produced.    If it was issued for a government contract, then it will have US Government Property on it along USN,USMC, what ever branch got it with  the acceptance markings, ie: flaming bomb etc. Contact customer service at S&W, provide them with all the markings and model/serial number. I traced a Mauser C-96 thru Google, it sent me to a web site in Europe that had the info. You might give that a try.

    Good luck.

  5. Write down the model number.  Then, write down the serial number.  You should be able to get information based on those two pieces of information.  You could probably use Google to learn about the model.  They will give you years of production.  From there, you can figure out what year that gun was manufactured.

Another way is to e-mail Smith and Wesson Customer Service.  They can probably help you out too.

    qa@smith-wesson.com

    Good luck!

  6. It could be a S&W VICTORY Model. "V" serial number. look under the barrel where the ejector rod lies and there will be several stamps. British Proof marks as part of the Lend-Lease of WWII.

Lanyard loop on bottom of the frame and most of those ground off but you can see the pivot stud.
