  1. warm water and salt works... not too much salt though... i am not sure how much though probably a tsp or two.

Another remedy is brandy, honey, fresh lemon and water. Heat it all up and drink it... it works!

  2. well i never found gurgling salt water to work for me, but gurgling some hydrogen peroxide does, its just stronger, and you have to make sure u donw swallow any of it and rinse your mouth out. Possibly drink some hot tea, cider, w/e.

  3. Gargling Saltwater. When my mom told me i thought she was crazy, but it worked a little bit when I did it.

    WARNING:It is disgusting!

I used a few ounces of water and then just a little bit of salt until you can taste it.

  4. Personally, gargling with salt water never helped me very much.

By far my favorite remedy is Slippery Elm bark powder.  It has a soothing quality and coats the throat a little bit to ease inflammation and allow it to heal.  You should be able to buy it at health food stores, sometimes in bulk as loose powder, or they may only have it in capsules.

You can take a tablespoon or so in some applesauce or oatmeal, and it will really make your throat feel a lot better.  The powder has a mild taste too, so if you mix it into something, you should barely be able to taste it.

  5. eat a little bit of honey if u have cough honey if not gargle with toothpaste and water hope it helped

  6. i used to work at a mexican restaurant and my boss made me something special...and tasty for sore throats!

***fill a small coffee cup with water

***squeeze the juice of 1 whole lime

***add about a tablespoon of honey

you can put this in the microwave and get it really hot, then just sip on it for a while..  i promise your throat will feel better in no time.    hope this helps!

  7. eat lots of yogurt.

  8. Use a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and gargle for as long as possilbe, twice a day.

Try to stick to eating soup and ice-cream and keep your throat warm with a scarf.

Take a good look in the mirror at your throat, if there are white patches then this is a viral infection and will not go away by these methods. You will have to get a prescription from the doctor.

  9. I totally feel your pain.. sore throats are the worst!!

I don't like using salt water because it makes me gag, but people say it works, so you should probably try it.

Drink lots of liquids.. I find that warm drinks, like hot chocolate, are very soothing.

Take tylenol or advil..that helps too.

    And get lots of sleep!

I hope you are cured ASAP!

  10. crunching ice then swallowing it.... the coldness seems to numb the pain, salt water as u said or if u have any honey mix that with some hot water and drink! hope u feel better soon!

  11. I got just one: Hall's Menthol-Lyptus.

I'll send u some through the computer. ;-)

  12. Saltwater works but its pretty disusting to try and gargle. Make sure you use a lot of salt. I'd say three parts salt to one part water. Have you tried Honey? It coats the throat, tastes good, and works faster than saltwater.

  13. mango juice and goldenseal capsules.

for the salt gargle, a glass of warm water with one tbsp. of salt will work just fine.

  14. um tea with raspberry preserves and also if you dont have that you can use lemon with honey!

  15. the best possible thing you can do - and yes, it may taste a bit gross, but your throat will *immediately* feel better - is to drink WATER & CAYENNE PEPPER.

it doesn't need to be a lot of water, a half a teaspoon to a teaspoon in a small glass of water will work.  the point is to allow as much cayenne pepper as you can handle to slowly pour down the back of your throat.  it isn't the hottest spice, but it is spicy, so just do as much as you can handle.

it should immediately cut down on the pain and most likely it will not come back.  i have used cayenne numerous times and it almost always cuts it down from a 10 to a 4 or 5 if not less, and it doesn't get worse again.

  16. Hot Tea... it worked for me. if you don't like tea plain. then add a lot of sugar... lol.

  17. Gargling with salt works for me. I never measured it but I guess I used about 1 tablespoon per glass of warm water. I believe it's the iodine in the salt that helps soothe the throat.

Another good one to try is tea with honey. Honey will coat your throat.

  18. My mom always told me to eat ice cream.

    Or drink orange juice.
