I've been playing soccer for as long as I can remember, whether it be high school teams, middle school, rec, odp, premier, etc.... basically you get the picture. So I'm used to tryouts. However today I have a planned tryout with another premier team, since the one I currently go to one be able to have a team in our age group for us, so I was wondering... what should I do today?

I'm just wondering if maybe I should go outside and juggle the ball around, like get my touch ready; do some shooting, hitting, etc.; or take an approach that won't be physically demanding such as stretching throughout the day and drinking a lot of fluids. I don't want to go up tired, but I don't want to go in with a bad touch.

Now I'm not saying "I haven't been practicing so what should I do?"... Well I have been with my other team in both regular practice sessions and games. I'm just wondering should I do some stuff to keep me limber and not stiff/dehydrated, or do some things that would help me with my shot (I have a a kickback goal I can use) and touch so that way I don't go in sloppy. Or maybe a combination of both.

Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated

  1. Hey what's up I play soccer too and what I did on tryouts was to stay near the coach and show off so I recomend that. If you are nervice get over it.

  2. hey first of all good luck for your trial, im from the uk. I had a trial for a scholarship to the usa about a month ago. Ihadnt played for a couple of months or done much fitness work before hand. I had lots of gatorade drink and water through out the day keeping me hydrated. I also chilled out as much as possible listening to music, and resting my body. When i got to the trail in the warm up i tried not to over do it just keeping my body relaxed which i suggest you do. Just warming up with the ball really, a few long and short passes and a few gentle jogs. Try to keep yourself fresh and good luck.

    Hope this helps

  3. What I do is I go to practice about 20 minutes earlier so I can get warmed up (and the coaches will be inpressed)
