  1. make him finish them within the three days.

  2. Don't let him have any free time till he's read. When he is unable to read himself (ie. he's eating, getting ready for bed, w/e) read to him. Worse comes to worse, Sparknotes or read the summaries on Amazon. Still, make sure he does read the full text. Chances are he won't be tested on the books till later in the week, so you may have more time than you think, but encourage him to get them done by first day!

  3. sit him at a table and make him read

dont let him do anything for the last 3 days of summer untill the books are read

look them up on line and you can quiz him on what he read to make sure he read all of the books

    good luck

and if he refuses to read then let him go to school without reading

he will start out the school year on a bad note however but that is his fault

(at my school they would just mark zeros and that is really hard to bring back up)

  4. Okay, sit him down and read the books with him, like help him out.  This really should've been done sooner but well there's no going back in time.  How many books does he have to read?  Make a schedule like read for 2 hrs. take a 30 min break, that's what my dad made me do when I was younger and "forgot" to read Lord of the Flies, lol.  Just make sure he reads the books.

  5. That gives you one per day. You should have spaced them out. Privileges should have been withdrawn until he kept on a schedule. School will just get harder. You must help him learn to pace or you are doing him a disservice. School years fly by and then you are faced with college. Good habits are a must and they need to be formed when the student is young.

  6. You don't say what books he has to have read (it would be alot more helpful to those who are trying to help you and your son).

You could go online and do a search for the book titles and authors <type them into your web browser> and see if you can help him compose an essay using his own words to summarize it (but do this with his agreement and understanding that this is not the right way to do his homework and that you are only do this to help him and that he doesn't get in trouble with his teacher for not doing his assignment.)
