I have a sony hvr hd1000u how do I get good quality video on it when I convert it to dvd disc?

Wether I shoot in hd or not or whatever software I use the picture comes out very grainy but while I'm capturing it it shows very clear. Is it something I'm doing wrong. pls help

  1. Sadly, there are always more ways of getting it wrong than getting it right!  Can you provide more info about your work flow - e.g. what software you've used, how much video you're trying to get on a DVD, what formats you're rendering in etc.

    OK, there shouldn't be any problems with overcompressing the video or encoding it twice.  Assuming you've selected DVD for your MPEG stream (as opposed to VCD or SVCD), what does the MPEG-2 file look like when you play it on your PC?  If it's OK, try creating a disc image in DVDit (Make DVD Folder option) and see how that plays on your PC.
