  1. The stock shocks have three settings on them, but you need a shock wrench. Turning the adjustment will either tighten or dampen the spring tension (which will raise or lower the seat height by about 3/4 of an inch) - but remember that the less travel the spring has, the roughter the ride.

Harley, as well as some other aftermarket shops, make compression shocks that can be tightened or loosened by hand - but again, same principle applies - less sping travel means a rougher ride.

Keep the rubber side down, and ride safe!

My mistake. I assumed that he was concerned about seat height while sitting on the bike. The lower tension lets the springs compress more and in effect "lowers" the height under rider load. At least it did for my wife. ;-)

  2. I don't agree with the guy above me. You can't lower or raise your bike with stock shocks, you can change the firmness that's all. I f you want to lower it ( I don't know why) buy a kit . Cost a bout $60.

  3. Two ways either buy lowered shocks, or buy lowering blocks. I would opt for the lowered shocks they are safer and don't have that ugly a$$ block at the rear of the bike.

Adjusting the shocks does nothing for lowering the bike, it only adjusts the preload. The question was how to lower the rear Shocks.

  4. 9&1/2" are the shortest that will work and will be for solo riding only.  don't do the blocks they look like shat
