As of April 27 my colt is really 1 year old. Beside the Jan. 1, birthday for horses. For a horse of his age, ( 13 ) months, his testicles have not dropped as of yet. Is this normal ? When can I expect this to occur ? I'm concerned. When does this situation become unhealthy for the horse ?

  1. Unless you plan on breeding him, have him fixed.

  2. You should have a vet check him out.  No, it's not normal for a horse's testicles to not drop by this time.

It's not exactly unhealthy for the horse, but for the sake of his comfort, you might have to geld him at some point.  Don't rush into it yet, but when it comes time to race him, if his stride seems to be compromised by the impacted t******e(s), gelding may be the only answer.

  3. They should have dropped months ago.

This is a big problem, you need to have a vet to come out.

He may have cripped orchid. Which is when the one, rarely both testicles do not drop.

  4. any time have vet to check.

  5. My advice to you is to save your horse health questions for your vet, this is not the place for reliable information regarding the heath of your horse!

  6. When you stop touching them.
