  1. Many Christmas Lights are wired so that there are two series of independent light strings within a single strand.  Another words, a 100 light set is really 2 sets of 50 lights inside.

When a light loses it's connection then you lose half of the strand.  A light can lose a connection for a number of reasons:  it's not firmly seated in the base, the bulb has burned out and the shunt is not closed, or the bulb is broken off.

I would check for any of the above that are obvious.  If you cannot locate the problem, then try and find a light tester.  I do not know of one for led lights however http://www.ChristmasLightsEtc.com sells them for incandescent lights.

Also, many led light bulbs are not replaceable.  If this is the case then the strand is useless unless they are under warranty.

  2. Since LED's have a very long life, the problem is more than likely a bad connection.  It's opened because of poor workmanship.  You can examine the string very carefully but I doubt that you could fix it even if you could find it.  They just weren't built to be repaired.

  3. There's atleast one fused bulb in the row that doesnt work, pull each one out, use an electric tester to see if you get a line current and the put the bulb back. When you pull out a bulb and you get no current, the PREVIOUS bulb is fused, NOT the one you pulled out...replace it with the spare that you get in the set and you're done!
