what requried math skills do you need to know, the ones you would use most commonly. im real dumb in math so thats why im asking.

  1. The math is very basic, mostly used for weight and balance. Most of the math is done with charts. Youll also learn how to use a little analog computer called a E6B which can calculate things like ground speed and wind components.

    The hardest part of getting your pilots license is actually memorizing the regulations. The other stuff is easy.


  2. Fairly simple math skills; add,multiply, divide, subtract.

    You need to be able to figure things out like cruising airspeed influenced by a tail or head wind, fuel burn, how to find a correct heading using a compass and computing your heading based upon true and magnetic north. Its really not that difficult. If you get a good ground school course like the one offered by Kings Schools, they will show you how to figure all those things out.

    There is quite a bit more math in an instrument rating, but just start with the basics for now.
