  1. That's just one of the "joys" of owning intact dogs - dealing with fretting males on a hunger strike.

Your best bet would be to get him out of the house and away from the b*****s.  Either board him or send him to a friend's house so that he's not constantly stressed by the females.

My boys always lose some weight when the girls are in season - usually just before I want to show them!

  2. Short of force feeding him or finding a friend he can stay with until the girls are out of heat, I don't think you're going to get him to eat!  He's just got to tough it out until they're all out of heat.  (At least they all come in at the same time!).

The only other thing I can think of is to add lots of good stuff like raw meat to his food, chop it up fine and mix it in well so he can't just pick out the meat.  Maybe adding a little no-salt chicken broth might help, too (warm so it smells good and entices him).

  3. A lot of males will go off their food while there are females in heat around.  It doesn't matter what the food is or where you feed him.  My male will occasionally go 4+ days without food - normally when the females are in standing heat.  As soon as their heat cycles are almost over, he'll start eating again.  Don't worry about him.  As long as he is healthy, he will not have any problems.

  4. Be a responsible owner and spay and neuter your pets for their health and well-being. Your male will gain weight and be healthier then.

  5. Getting him neutered will stop ALL your problems:) with him.   And I'm wondering if this is really a joke, I mean you have to know this is gonna cause a HUGE problem and your gonna get ripped apart, just warning you.  Next getting the spays done, and you'll be all set.

Edit I don't mean by the dogs, but the people on Yahoo Answers

  6. You can give him some Nutri-Cal, it's a paste you can get from your vet and it would give him some supplemental nutrition at least until the girls are out of season.I doubt he'd reject it, but you may have to force it.  Each female will stay in season for 3 weeks at a time. If they've synced their cycles as it sounds like they have, then you'll only have this to "look forward to" in 6 months again! You might want to consider fixing some of your dogs, of course your "stud" is beside himself with 4 "ladies" "expecting his services." Take great consideration, most often it is better to spay and neuter than to add to the huge amount of homeless pets already out there. Also, female on female aggression is a huge issue with 4 intact females, they see themselves as a pack and there can only be 1 top female. Females have been known to fight to the death to prove top dog status. You may already know, but based on your question I'm assuming you may not. Hope that helps!
